NASA is set to host a media teleconference at 1:30 P.M Central Daylight Time (CDT) on Thursday, 25 August, to tackle the agency’s tools, resources, and science research available to the agriculture community.

According to a statement by NASA, as drought persists in parts of the United States, putting a strain on American food producers, NASA Earth Science Division is meeting with producers and representatives in Nebraska and Kansas. The agency said farmers and other agricultural producers in the U.S. Corn Belt and across the country regularly decide about water management, planting, and market decisions based on the data from NASA and partner agencies and organisations.

The teleconference participants include NASA Headquarters Earth Science Division Director Karen St. Germain, NASA Earth Science Division Water Resources and Agriculture Program Manager Brad Doorn, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Seth Meyer, Hunnicutt Farms owner Zach Hunnicutt, University of Nebraska’s Center for Advanced Land Management Information Technologies Director Brian Wardlow, and Kansas State University’s Agriculture and Extension Director Susan Metzger.

According to NASA, the media will learn more about the information, tools, and resources drawn from NASA’s Earth observation satellites and science research during the teleconference, how it is applied to agriculture, and how the agency collaborates with partners to fill data gaps and plans for the future.
