Tivan Limited has signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA) with Cambridge Gulf Limited (CGL), the operator of Western Australia’s Wyndham Port, to work on opportunities to support the Speewah Vanadium-Titanium-Iron Project.
Under the terms of the agreement, Tivan and CGL have begun negotiations to explore opportunity prospects for CGL to support the Speewah Project through its Wyndham Port business. The potential support includes operational facilitation, port services (import and export), and logistics between the Speewah Project and Wyndham Port. Furthermore, the parties are examining prospective CGL-controlled land locations near Wyndham Port that might serve operating requirements for the Speewah Project.
Speewah is located in the Kimberley region of northwest Western Australia, about 100 kilometres south of Wyndham. CGL operates and manages Wyndham Port and has shipping, fuel, and logistics operations throughout Northern Australia, especially in Wyndham and Kununurra. According to Tivan, CGL is a significant employer in Wyndham and has joint venture ties with several indigenous organisations.
A formal commercial agreement will formalise any areas of firm partnership the parties choose to pursue. Tivan noted that the HoA is non-exclusive.
CGL CEO Tony Chafer commented, “CGL is delighted to be working with Tivan on the development of its recently acquired Speewah Project. Tivan’s enthusiastic, pragmatic and inclusive approach provides confidence that the Speewah Project will finally progress and deliver on its significant potential for the East Kimberley economy and the Wyndham Port in particular. The Project will enable CGL to expand our port and logistics teams and substantially increase the level of local indigenous participation in the workforce and we look forward to assisting Tivan through the various stages of the development.”
“Wyndham Port lies on Tivan’s critical path to project delivery. It provides an important comparative advantage for Speewah when compared to alternative vanadium in titanomagnetite resources in Australia as proximity to port is a significant driver of operational expenditure,” Tivan Executive Chairman Grant Wilson said.
Wilson stated that Tivan may be able to pursue an expedited pathway to project delivery due to the near proximity and logistical facilitation available.
“In this context, Tivan is delighted to formalise our relationship with Cambridge Gulf Limited (CGL) building on highly collaborative efforts of recent months. CGL is an ideal strategic partner for Tivan with its proud heritage in the East Kimberley and its extensive community-based roots. CGL is strongly committed to First Nations employment and business development, topics of central importance to Tivan’s mission,” he added.
