AGL Energy and NBN Co have signed a six-year power purchase agreement, with NBN purchasing approximately 90 GWh of renewable energy annually and the associated certificates from Macarthur Wind Farm.
AGL Chief Operating Officer Markus Brokhof stated that the agreement is yet another example of how AGL can assist Australian businesses in their transition journey.
“We continue to work with our customers and partners to support them as they transition their businesses. This contract also supports the ongoing operation of the Macarthur Wind Farm,” Brokhof said.
The wind farm has 140 wind turbines with a capacity of 420 MW. Over the past decade, it has generated over 910,000 MWh of renewable energy, enough to power 171,000 Australian households annually.
AGL operates and maintains the Macarthur Wind Farm, and the company owns all renewable energy certificates and the power generated by the wind farm until 2038.
