According to the media release, Aurizon inked a 10-year agreement with the Dawson mine’s joint owners Anglo American and Mitsui.
The deal also covers work for the Callide mine – which is owned outright by Anglo American.
“Anglo American and Mitsui are valued customers and Aurizon is delighted to renew its long-term relationship for the Dawson and Callide mines,” said Mauro Neves, Executive Vice President of Commercial & Marketing, Aurizon.
“We understand the challenges in the current market and Aurizon has worked hard to provide a competitive, flexible contract to meet Anglo American’s and Mitsui’s requirements.”
The performance based agreement provides for haulage of significant volumes of coal and replaces the company’s existing contract servicing the mines.
The new contract is effective immediately.
