Agriculture and Food Minister Terry Redman said crop updates enabled agribusiness to be informed of the latest in research, technology, market development and management, with the aim of improving the productivity and profitability of the State’s $5billion grains industry. The average harvest in WA is 10 million tonnes of cereals, oilseeds and pulses.

The premier annual grains event is supported by the Department of Agriculture and Food and the Grains Research and Development Corporation.

“As the world’s population rapidly increases there is a need to understand what pressures agriculture will come under in the short and long term. This will be covered by keynote speakers addressing what future technological advances will be available, what improvements Australia needs to make to remain globally competitive and potential new ways of managing herbicide resistance. Regional areas will not miss out, with Regional Crop Updates to be held following the February 25-26 event,” Mr Redman said.
