SIMPEC, a WestStar Industrial Limited subsidiary, has secured a $105 million contract for Cockburn Cement Limited’s (CCL) Kwinana Plant Upgrade Project.
SIMPEC will provide structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation (SMPE&I) support services to expand the existing Kwinana Cockburn Cement plant. The SIMPEC team has been on-site executing work under a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) for over ten months.
The Scope of the Works comprises the development of CCL’s, an Adbri Limited subsidiary, cement operations at Kwinana. It includes new grinding circuits and raw material storage, and reclamation system designed to produce various cement products for the local market.
One of the primary goals of the upgrade will be the ability to receive and store bulk raw materials directly into the site via the Fremantle Port Authority’s (FPA) Kwinana Bulk Terminal, using a new raw materials feed conveyor system and a completely enclosed 110,000 tonnes storage shed.
Two new 100 tonne per hour (tph) ball mill grinding circuits will be incorporated into the facility, feeding six new 3,200 tonne finished product silos with truck out loading.
“This is our first major project with Cockburn Cement Limited (CCL). This new contract demonstrates the Company’s track record of delivering for its clients. We are very pleased to secure this work and are committed to maintaining a long-standing relationship with CCL and the ADBRI group,” SIMPEC Managing Director Mark Dimasi said.
“We are pleased to have appointed SIMPEC who have a strong track record of delivery. The balance of work for the agreed scope remains consistent with Adbri’s previously announced cost estimate and project schedule for the Kwinana Upgrade Project,” Adbri Chief Executive Mark Irwin stated.
