Strike Energy Limited has provided a production update on the Walyering gas field, noting the field delivered 33 TJ into the Western Australian domestic gas market on 24 December 2023.
According to Strike, the milestone comes after several periods of downstream maintenance on the Parmelia Gas Pipeline, which resulted in limited deliveries into the company’s existing marketing arrangements.
Strike added that the Walyering gas field’s upstream performance had met expectations, with all reservoirs opened and original downhole gauges retrieved.
The company noted that its operational successes demonstrate its integrated project delivery proficiency, and it plans to further utilise its in-house capabilities at other Jurassic wet-gas discoveries, like Ocean Hill, after successful appraisal.
The ongoing deliveries exceeding contracted volumes are subject to customer nominations and additional gas marketing activities.
“Reaching nameplate capacity at Walyering within 90-days of start-up of the facility marks a significant achievement for Strike’s project team. With the confidence that Walyering can operate steadily at these rates or higher, Strike will increase its gas marketing activities, which starts with this additional strip of firm offtake to Alinta,” Strike Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer Stuart Nicholls said.
Additionally, Strike and Alinta Energy WA Pty Ltd have signed a 100% take or pay gas sales agreement for 3.4 PJ delivered into the Parmelia Gas Pipeline over approximately two years.
