Nigel Grigg and Georges Delemontex have jointly won the Coalition for Energy Efficient Comminution (CEEC) medal for 2015, which recognises contributions for outstanding innovation and productivity improvements in the field of mineral processing from crushed ore.

The pair used specialist equipment invented by Gekko to showcase the production efficiency gains and profit resulting from an improved process of removing low-value material before the ore is finely crushed to obtain a higher concentration of the valuable minerals and metals.

Presenting Mr Grigg and Mr Delemontex with the international CEEC medal, Minister for Energy and Resources Lily D’Ambrosio said it was a testimony to the “innovation and dedication” of Victoria’s mining and services industry.

“There are around 1900 Victorian businesses employing more than 21,000 people in mining technology, equipment and services in Australia. It’s a growth industry providing high-skilled, high wage jobs for Victorians,” the Minister said.

“Victoria is the biggest exporter of mining technology, equipment and services in Australia, with the sector valued at $17 billion in 2012.”

The CEEC is a global not-for-profit organisation that promotes technological innovation. The awarding of the CEEC medal capped off IMARC 2015, which was attended by Around 2,500 delegates from more than 30 countries, including 13 international Mining Ministers, CEOs and decision makers from the global mining industry.
